‘Erode Naadaga Kottagai’ is a theatre group located in Erode, Tamilnadu founded by V. Sathish Kumar along with few actors who were very passionate with theatre. As a theatre group, it explores the new space for performing street plays, folk performances, Gana music, and awareness plays with greater passion.
Since 2019, Erode Naadaga Kottagai team has had more than 200 performances across Tamil Nadu and over 20 performances across south India that includes some National Theatre Festivals.
Years ago, the group has faced constant difficulties to establish a professional theater space, but the continuous supports from our masters and theatre enthusiasts, our well-wishers and the public witnessing our plays, we were able to overcome these and now we have created a small theater space for the troupe at Erode.
Erode Naadaga Kottagai’s core aim is to expand the role of modern theater in the cultural life of the country by developing new modern texts, find the specificities of Indian modern theater exploring its relationships with traditional forms, and transcending social and historical divides. They are also performing Street plays, Social Drama, and Physical Theatre Plays.
Erode Naadaga Kottagai is a children’s theatre group, the students those who were studying in Schools and Colleges are working as an Actors in our group, and also they are working in a Black box Theatre Form using the Black boxes for our Stage Design. It also serves as a Memorial space for Chennai Koothu-p-pattarai founder Padmashri Na. Muthusamy.
Erode Naadaga Kottagai is continuously making Awareness street Plays to make a change in the Society. The Artists in this Theatre are the ‘Strolling Actors’ – they are travelling to many places and making Awareness Plays, Physical Theatre Plays, Realism Plays,etc.. They are also teaching Theatre to the School and College Students. The Artists in ‘Erode Naadaga Kottagai’ getting trained here and also Performing in Some other Theatre Spaces also. They are also acting in Films. It Serves as a Space for the Students to Identify their Inner self, to develop their talent and to improve their Societal Awareness.
The Shows will be mostly on the evening of Saturdays and Sundays in our Space. They also Perform the Special shows during weekdays for any Special Events. The Training for the Artists in the Theatre Includes:

Since our group at Erode Naadaga Kottagai was established in Erode Naadaga Kottagai Trust in Erode back in 2019, We have offered the highest standard of entertainments and theater courses to encourage youth to build their talent care.

V.Sathish Kumar, founder & director of the Erode Naadaga Kottagai. He has a keen interest in the field of art at a young age. Since his college years he has been a associated with the Erode district government institutions and performing the street plays, folk performances, Gana music, and awareness plays for the state and private institutions. Within his experience,he along with his friends created a cultural association named Amman Gana Kalaikuzhu and made street theater.
He was honored with the college of youth achievement at Bharathiar University. Post the graduation his journey continued with the famous modern theatre company Koothu -p-pattarai in Chennai.
His ability towards the theatre art has broaden under the pedagogy of Padma Shri.Na.Muthusamy. He was mentored by Mr. Natesh Muthusamy(Son of Mr.Na Muthusamy) He learned theater technics, writing, music, stage lighting, and all walks his polish with his master’s dictates there a few years working and then he came out of the Koothu-p-pattarai and formed the theatre group ‘ErodeNadagaKottagai’ with the memory of his master Padma Shri.Na.Muthusamy. Now he is directing Erode Naadaga Kottagai by accepting his Mentor Mr. Natesh Muthusamy as his Mental Guru.
